Source of Life?

52  . . . all the people were wailing and mourning for her. “Stop wailing,” Jesus said. “She is not dead but asleep.” 53 They laughed at him, knowing that she was dead. 54 But he took her by the hand and said, “My child, get up!” 55 Her spirit returned, and at once she stood up. (Luke 8: 53-55)

Lord, fill me more and more with your spirit. I want more and more life.

Good medicine

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones. (The Book of Proverbs, Chapter 17, Verse 22)

Have you ever been to a healing service? Miraculous healing is a joy to receive or behold. Overall though, health is a matter of wisdom. It is a path. It is a life style.

Oh, Lord, teach me to cultivate a happy heart and maintain a cheerful mind even in the face of painful circumstances. Defend my spirit. Do not let it be broken in the ebb and flow of earthly battles. My bones are my frame. Let them be strong yet supple, resisting the tear and torque of daily stress.

Cool spirit

27 He who has knowledge spares his words, and a man of understanding has a cool spirit.

28 Even a fool when he holds his peace is considered wise; when he closes his lips he is esteemed a man of understanding. (Proverbs, Chapter 17, Verses 27 and 28, Amplified Version)

This is the first time I really put these two verses together. They both emphasize the importance of not talking too much. Oh, Lord, I often talk too much. I end up sharing things I didn’t really need to share. At the very best this bores others. At the worst it may insult them or reveal information that should not have been revealed. Oh, Holy Spirit come  on inside and be a good gatekeeper to my mouth. Oops! I don’t meant that to sound like I’m inviting You to be the butler. No, I want you to be in charge and my mouth will serve you, and all the rest of me, for that matter.

Spirit lamp

Proverbs, Chapter 20, Verse 27 (Amplified Bible)

The spirit of man [that factor in human personality which proceeds immediately from God] is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.

OK, Lord, do let your light shine in! Let’s clean out the junk and make room for your treasure of wisdom! (I really love the new insights the Amplified translation offers)
